- Fashionyze Privacy Policy
Fashionyze is a fashion discovery and social app operated by Matthew Anur. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Matthew Anur operating Fashionyze. Matthew Anur is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
For privacy questions and requests, contact matthew.anur@gmail.com.
This policy covers the Fashionyze mobile app and its initial testing programme. The initial beta is intended for invited adults aged 18 or older. It does not describe the separate tracking practices of retailer websites or other websites you visit through links in the app.
1. Information we collect
Account and profile information
We process your email address and password through our authentication provider, Supabase, to create your account and sign you in. Your profile may also include a username, display name, profile photo, biography and preferences you choose to provide. We do not need your password in support emails or privacy requests; please never send it to us.
Content and communications
We process content you create or upload, including outfit photos, posts, stories, captions, product links, wardrobe photos and descriptions, saved clothing, comments, community contributions and direct messages. This includes images and voice recordings when you use those messaging or comment features.
Photos and recordings can contain information about you and other people. Only upload content you are entitled to share. Avoid including sensitive documents or information unrelated to the fashion feature you are using.
Fashion preferences and activity
We process your selected fashion preferences and activity such as likes, passes, saves, follows, and viewing activity used by recommendation features. This includes information about the items you view and the time or attention you give them where those features record it.
We use these signals, your wardrobe and saved items, and permitted outfit-analysis results to build and update your Fashion DNA and recommend clothing, outfits and people with similar styles. Fashion DNA is a fashion-preference profile, not genetic or biological information.
Social and safety information
We process follows, community memberships, blocks, reports and moderation records to operate social features and protect the community. A report may include the reported content, the reason for the report and the identities of the accounts involved.
Technical information and device permissions
Our infrastructure and service providers process operational information such as IP addresses, request times, authentication events, errors and service-usage records. If you enable notifications, we process a device push token to deliver them. Some preferences and session information are stored locally on your device.
The app requests access to photos, the camera or the microphone when a feature needs it. You can manage these permissions through your device settings. Granting a device permission does not, by itself, grant permission to send your photos to an AI provider.
Support and testing feedback
If you email us or submit feedback, we receive the message, your contact details and any attachments you provide. Support emails sent to our Gmail address are handled through Google's email service. During TestFlight testing, Apple may make testing information, crash reports, screenshots and tester feedback available to us under its TestFlight arrangements.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Create and manage accounts and profiles.
- Provide posts, wardrobes, saved items, messaging and community features.
- Personalise fashion discovery and maintain Fashion DNA.
- Perform optional outfit analysis and clothing cutouts when you give permission.
- Deliver requested account messages and notifications.
- Respond to feedback, support requests and privacy requests.
- Investigate reports, prevent abuse, protect accounts and troubleshoot the service.
- Meet applicable legal obligations.
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Account access, social features and the personalised fashion-discovery service you request | Performance of our agreement with you, to the extent the processing is necessary to provide that service |
| Optional sharing of your content with AI providers | Your consent |
| Security, moderation, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and responding to general support requests | Our legitimate interests in providing a safe, reliable service and supporting its users, balanced against your rights |
| Fulfilling legally required privacy requests and other legal duties | Compliance with the relevant legal obligation |
Account credentials are required to create an account. Other information depends on the features you use. If you do not provide a feature's necessary input, such as a photo for a wardrobe item, that feature may not be available. Declining AI processing does not prevent you from posting or saving an original wardrobe photo.
Recommendations involve automated profiling of fashion preferences. They are suggestions you can choose to use; they do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.
3. Optional AI image processing
Fashionyze uses two separate AI permissions. Both are off until you allow them. Permission is saved for your account and applies to future uses of the relevant feature until you withdraw it.
Outfit analysis — Google Gemini
With your permission, Fashionyze sends your published outfit photo and caption to Google Gemini through its paid API. Google receives the image content and the instructions and caption used for the analysis.
The purpose is to identify clothing, colours, silhouettes and other fashion features. Fashionyze may store the resulting style features and analysis with the post and use them in Fashion DNA and recommendation features.
Google's paid Gemini API terms state that prompts and responses are not used to improve Google's products. Those terms allow limited retention of prompts and responses for safety, policy enforcement and required legal disclosures. Paid access does not mean that nothing is retained.
Clothing cutouts — fal.ai
With your separate permission, Fashionyze sends fal.ai a URL giving access to your wardrobe photo, a clothing description or processing instruction, and your selection points. The purpose is to identify the selected garment and separate it from its background. This can expose the full photo, including faces, surroundings or other details in it, rather than just the selected clothing.
Fashionyze stores the resulting cutout with the wardrobe item. fal may store request inputs and outputs and generated processing files. Its published documentation specifies a default 30-day retention for request JSON; generated-media retention is separate and depends on its media-retention settings. This is not a promise that every image is deleted after 30 days. Generated processing files may be accessible through public URLs.
Your choice
When prompted, choose “Continue without AI” to publish without outfit analysis or save the original wardrobe photo without a clothing cutout.
To review or withdraw permission, open Settings → Safety & Privacy → AI processing. You can turn outfit analysis and clothing cutouts off independently.
Withdrawal stops new processing requests for that feature and does not affect the lawfulness of processing already carried out with your consent. It cannot recall information already sent or instantly cancel a request already received by a provider. Existing posts, original photos, completed cutouts and previously stored analysis remain unless removed through content or account deletion.
Provider information:
4. Who receives information
Other users. Your profile and social content are visible to the audience of the feature and any available privacy settings. Direct messages are delivered to their recipients; community contributions are available to the relevant community audience. Recipients can take screenshots, download media or otherwise keep copies.
Media hosting. Outfit and wardrobe images are currently served through public media URLs. Someone who obtains one of those URLs may be able to access the image without signing into Fashionyze. A photo not displayed in a public feed should not be assumed to have a private storage link.
Supabase. Provides account authentication, databases, file storage and backend operations.
Google Gemini and fal.ai. Receive the content needed for the optional AI features described above when you give permission.
Expo, Apple and delivery infrastructure. Support relevant app distribution, push notifications and beta testing. Hosting and email-delivery services process information needed to provide their functions.
Authorised support and moderation access. The operator and authorised moderators may access information needed to investigate reports, resolve issues and protect users. Direct messages are not end-to-end encrypted; this policy does not promise that only the sender and recipient can technically access them.
Legal and safety disclosures. We may disclose relevant information when legally required or necessary to investigate abuse, protect people, enforce applicable rules or establish or defend legal claims.
If you choose to share content externally or open a retailer link, the chosen platform or retailer handles the information it receives under its own policy.
5. International processing
Fashionyze's principal Supabase project is hosted in the EU Paris region. This does not mean all processing stays in France or the EEA. Provider operations, AI processing, support, notifications and logs may involve other countries, including the United States.
Supabase's published data-processing addendum incorporates EU Standard Contractual Clauses and a UK transfer addendum where applicable. Google's paid Gemini terms incorporate its data-processing addendum and permit processing in countries where Google or its agents maintain facilities. fal describes processing in the United States and other countries and the use of contractual safeguards where required.
International processing can be subject to different laws, including lawful government-access requirements. Contact matthew.anur@gmail.com to request information about the arrangements relevant to your data or copies of applicable transfer safeguards.
6. Retention and deletion
We determine retention by the purpose of the information, whether your account or the relevant feature remains in use, deletion requests, unresolved safety or support issues, and legal requirements. We do not promise a single fixed retention period for every category.
| Information | Retention criteria |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, fashion preferences, Fashion DNA, saved items and wardrobe items | Kept to operate your account and the features you use, unless removed or your account is successfully deleted |
| Posts, comments, messages, community contributions and media | Kept to provide the relevant feature until removed or affected by account deletion; content disappearing from a feed or story view does not itself prove that its stored record or media has been deleted |
| AI-permission records | Kept to apply your current choice and document the permission version; associated account records are removed when account deletion completes |
| Support, safety and moderation information | Kept while needed to resolve the matter, address repeat abuse or meet applicable legal requirements; the necessary period depends on the issue and any outstanding dispute |
| Operational logs and backups | May remain outside the active application database under the provider's retention settings; deleting an active record does not necessarily immediately remove a prior log or backup copy |
| AI inputs, processing files and outputs | Subject to the provider processing described in section 3; copies of results stored in Fashionyze follow the retention of the related post or wardrobe item |
Successful in-app account deletion removes your account and associated active application data and owned media. Other people's messages remain. A community with remaining members may continue under a remaining member's ownership; a community without other members is removed.
Deletion cannot recall copies other people have kept, remove information from external platforms you shared it to, or instantly erase provider logs, backups or already-submitted AI requests. If a deletion request cannot be fully completed, contact us so we can investigate what remains and why.
7. Your choices and rights
You can edit information through the available profile controls, remove content where the feature provides that option, manage AI permissions, and change device notification, photo, camera and microphone permissions.
Delete your account
In the beta version containing the deletion feature, open Settings → Account → Delete account, enter your current password and type DELETE to confirm. Once deletion succeeds, you are signed out. If the process reports an error, follow the retry instructions or contact us; do not assume that deletion has completed.
You can also request deletion by emailing matthew.anur@gmail.com, preferably from your registered email address. Never include your password.
Privacy requests
Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights to access your personal information, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, obtain a portable copy, restrict processing, withdraw consent and complain to a data-protection authority. Rights can have conditions or exceptions.
You may object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including relevant profiling, where the applicable law provides that right. Contact us to make an objection or another privacy request.
We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity and protect your account. We respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any applicable extension or reason a request cannot be fulfilled.
You can complain to the data-protection authority where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred. EEA authority contact details are available through the European Data Protection Board. UK users can contact the Information Commissioner's Office.
8. Security
We use account authentication and access controls to help protect information. No online service can guarantee complete security. Keep your password private and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access. Public media links and copies shared with others have the access limitations described above.
9. Adults-only initial testing
The initial testing programme is intended only for invited people aged 18 or older. Do not use this beta if you are under 18. This statement does not mean the app automatically verifies everyone's age.
If you believe someone under 18 is using the beta or has provided personal information, contact matthew.anur@gmail.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including removal of the account and related information where required.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Fashionyze develops. We will change the date above and provide appropriate notice of material changes. If a new use requires consent, we will ask before beginning that processing; continued use alone does not replace required consent.
